Digital & Entrepreneurial Skills

Build skills for digital work and self-employment

The REFLECT Digital & Entrepreneurial Skills programme supports young people in developing the competences they need to take part in today’s digital environments.

Through five Interactive Open Online Courses, live sessions, peer exchange and mentoring, participants learn how to communicate online and shape business ideas, exploring opportunities for freelancing and self-employment.
The learning pathway

From digital confidence to entrepreneurial action

This activity combines structured online learning with practical assignments, group exchange and entrepreneurial coaching.

Participants move through a progressive learning pathway that starts with digital communication and productivity. Then they continue with remote collaboration and online branding, and leads towards business modelling, freelancing readiness and small digital venture development.

The curriculum is co-created with young facilitators and professional trainers, ensuring that the content is relevant and aligned with the needs of young people, expecially those with migrant backgrounds and marginalised learners.

Course materials are reviewed by experts from both European and African partner organisations and delivered through Moodle and Zoom in an interactive blended format.

The courses

5 interactive online courses

The programme includes five immersive Interactive Open Online Courses, each lasting between 4 and 8 weeks depending on the complexity of the topic.

Each course combines theory, practical tools, case studies, individual assignments and peer learning. The aim is not only to introduce digital and entrepreneurial concepts, but to help participants apply them in real-life contexts.

Digital productivity

Participants learn how to use digital tools to organise work, manage tasks, communicate clearly and collaborate online.

Tools may include Google Workspace, Trello, Canva and other accessible platforms for everyday digital productivity.

How learning happens

Blended, practical and accessible

The courses are delivered through a blended learning approach, combining asynchronous content on Moodle with live online sessions on Zoom.

1

International cohorts

Participants join cohorts across the six partner countries and work in smaller international groups of 10.

2

Interactive activities

Learning includes case studies, practical assignments, peer feedback, online portfolios and reflection journals.

3

Accessible design

All modules are designed for mobile-first access and low-bandwidth users, so more participants can take part.

At the beginning of each module, participants complete a short survey to assess their starting knowledge. At the end of the module, a post-survey helps trainers understand progress, learning needs and areas for improvement.

Each group brings together young people from different contexts, encouraging intercultural exchange, peer support and gender-balanced participation.

Mentorship and coaching

Support to turn learning into action

To reinforce learning and help participants apply their skills in real-world contexts, the programme includes peer mentorship groups and entrepreneurial coaching circles.

Each participant joins a small group guided by trained mentors, youth workers, facilitators or alumni with experience in digital work, entrepreneurship or community leadership.

Peer mentorship groups

Mentorship groups are built around trust, collaboration and mutual learning. Participants exchange experiences, share progress, ask questions and support each other as they move through the courses.

Entrepreneurial coaching circles

Coaching circles focus on practical application. Participants receive guidance on developing project ideas, identifying opportunities, strengthening their digital presence and taking first steps towards freelancing or small digital ventures.

Guest speakers and practical guidance

Guest speakers share real experiences from digital work, entrepreneurship, community leadership and creative industries, helping participants connect course content with real pathways and opportunities.

Mentors meet their groups twice per month in two-hour sessions, supported by resource kits and discussion guides.

Skills participants develop

By taking part in the programme, participants strengthen a combination of digital, entrepreneurial and soft skills.

Digital communication

Participants learn how to communicate clearly and confidently across digital platforms, adapting their message to different audiences and contexts.

Collaboration and adaptability

Participants develop the ability to work with others remotely, solve problems, respond to change and contribute to shared goals.

Entrepreneurial thinking

Participants learn how to identify needs, shape ideas, explore opportunities and turn interests or skills into simple project or business concepts.

Financial literacy

Participants gain basic knowledge to understand planning, budgeting and decision-making in relation to self-employment and small ventures.

Freelancing readiness

Participants explore freelance platforms, online portfolios, digital services and the practical challenges of working independently online.

Reflective learning

Participants track their progress through journals, portfolios, self-evaluations and peer feedback, becoming more aware of their strengths and next steps.

Assessment and recognition

From learning progress to recognised competences

At the end of the programme, participants complete a final readiness assessment to evaluate the skills acquired during the training and mentorship phases.

The assessment includes self-evaluations, digital project submissions and peer reviews. It is aligned with European competence frameworks such as DigComp and EntreComp, helping participants recognise and communicate both digital and entrepreneurial competences.

Participants who complete the courses and submit their final reflections receive micro-credentials and Youthpass certificates.

These recognitions validate both hard and soft skills, supporting employability, credibility in freelance markets and access to further learning, volunteering or work opportunities.
